My fiancee makes about 50k a year and I make about 45k
We are planning to have our big wedding next year, but buying a condo together this year. If it will save us money on taxes, we would like to go to city hall this year and sign our papers for marriage. Also we are trying to take advantage of California first time home buyer credit, and if only one of us claims it, we would get less back (from what I understand). We need all the money we can get right now for our big wedding next year, so if we would get a bigger tax return this year if we are legally married I’d like to know that.
Thank you
single people do. being married you get tax breaks that single people don’t get.
